The Glasgow’s Gilded Age Project highlighted those Glasgow designers who originally helped to establish the city’s reputation at the time in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Glasgow’s international reputation for design and manufacture sprang forth from the city’s industries, as well as its educational institutions, and its influence spread across the globe through commerce and trade.

The two conferences (Glasgow’s Gilded Age: Glamour & Grit 1864-1914 and Glasgow’s Lost Genius: Alfred Alexander Webster) were held in collaboration with Glasgow City Heritage Trust and Four Acres Charitable Trust. Organisers included: David Robertson, Dr Rachael Purse, Fergus Sutherland, Erin Walter and myself.
You can find more information and the talks via the Glasgow City Heritage Trust’s website here.
