Born in Largs, Brodie attended Glasgow High School for Girls before studying at GSA from 1926 where she entered the newly introduced BSc (Architecture) course. She won the GSA Keppie award in June 1930 and after graduating she worked for various architectural firms including Burnet, Tait & Lorne and Mewes & Davis.
